Care to define Rock for me? To do away with the tedious battle of definitions I'd much rather go by what you have to provide. It makes things easier for me.

Perhaps we could settle for 'favorite band' simply... Rock is no longer definable, I think. Specially when bands started to looking for new ways of presenting something new and end up cacophonies.

It is a fairly vague question, since the genre of 'rock' music is defined by such a vast set of sub genres that virtually nothing is actually classified as rock music anymore, but by one of the many sub genres.

That being said I don't think I could name a top five. I love music too much to really pick and choose favorites.

Speaking of Dio, may he rest in peace... One of the greatest musicians (imho) ever, passed away 16th May...

Top 5 bands eh?

hmm...harder to pick than a broken nose....

In no particular order:

The Beatles [simply because they revolutionised popular music beyond anything people had heard of before]

Led Zepplin [for being awesome rockers that stormed the pillars of heaven]

AC/DC [ for being the BEST rock band in existence today!]

The Rolling Stones [these guys are master musicians and Keith Richards is a drug taking demon and hellish guitarist]

Pink Floyd [mindblowing music]
In War: Resolution. In Defeat: Defiance. In Victory: Magnanimity. In Peace: Goodwill.

Disturbed

Metallica (the older stuff i.e. Enter Sandman and Wherever I May Roam)

Korn

Tool

Breaking Benjamin

And so many more lol :D
